Overview: Passionate about changing the world? Join DEV HACK 2026. Team up, get creative and tackle a real-world social or environmental challenge!

HAVE YOU GOT THE PASSION TO CHANGE THE WORLD? Big problems need bold ideas. Could yours be one of them? Climate change. Inequality. Social and environmental challenges that affect millions of people. It's easy to look at the problems facing the world and wonder, "What can I possibly do about it?" At DEV HACK 2026, we're asking a different question: What if you could be part of the solution?

Join other UEA students for an intensive, creative hackathon where you'll work together to tackle a real-world challenge and develop an innovative idea that could make a genuine difference.

Never done a hackathon before? No problem – and no coding or "hacking" experience is required! Hackathons are fast-paced, team-based challenges where people bring different skills and perspectives together to creatively develop a product, service or idea in response to a real-world problem.

You don't need to be a business student. You don't need to be a coder. And you definitely don't need to arrive with the solution. We want thinkers, creators, researchers, problem-solvers, campaigners, entrepreneurs, designers and people who simply care about making things better.

You'll be put into a team and challenged to create, research and develop an innovative solution, with experienced mentors around to challenge your thinking and help you turn your ideas into something that could work in the real world. Then comes the big finish: pitch your solution to a panel of experts and entrepreneurs and compete to become the winners of DEV HACK 2026.

Along the way, you'll build skills in creative problem-solving, innovation, teamwork, enterprise, research, prototyping and pitching — and meet students from outside your usual course and friendship groups.

One day. One challenge. What could you create? Wednesday 28 October 2026. The Enterprise Centre, UEA. Work in teams. Develop a solution. Pitch to the judges.
