Join us in person to code, create, and catch the ultimate vibe at Get that Vibe Hackathon!

AI can build your app in an hour. Can you make it safe to ship? AI code generation or vibe coding, is taking the tech world by storm. Today, you can build a working app from a single text prompt in minutes. But what happens under the hood? Is it secure? What happens when 100 people use it? Would you put your name on it? That is a skill, and it can be learned. On 25 September we are going to teach it. Join Yorkshire Software Solutions for a unique, hands-on hackathon at this year's Leeds Digital Festival. You will build fast in the morning and learn to make it safe in the afternoon.

What to Expect: We're not just building apps; we're breaking them down. You'll be placed into a team and paired with one of our experienced Senior Software Engineers, who will mentor you throughout the day.

Part 1: Build it. Your team gets a design brief. Using a cutting-edge, prompt-based AI coding tool, you will vibe code your way to a working solution as fast as possible. No prior experience needed.

Part 2: Swap it. Halfway through, teams trade projects. You now own somebody else's build, exactly as you would on your first day in a new job.

Part 3: Make it safe. For the second half of the event, you'll perform a review using our Vibe Code Review (VCR) framework created by our experts at Yorkshire Software Solutions. Access and permissions. Exposed keys and secrets. Data handling. Payments. Error handling. You will find what the AI missed, and you will learn what to do about it. Every team leaves with a written verdict on the app they reviewed, and the framework to run it again.

What you get out of it: By the end of the day, you will: Hands-on time with the AI build tools businesses are already using. The VCR framework, yours to keep and use in your own work. A practical skill that most people using these tools do not have. Direct time with senior engineers who ship production software. Introductions across the Yorkshire tech community.

Who is it for: This event is tailor-made for: University Students studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields. Recent Graduates looking to sharpen their practical skills. Junior Software Engineers wanting to learn secure coding practices and AI integration. The 99%! If you are building or want to start building with AI tools and want better results, you belong here. No prior experience with AI coding tools is required. Just bring your laptop, your curiosity, and a willingness to learn!

Is there any scope for more experienced Software Engineers? Absolutely! We intend to have at least 1 Senior Engineer per team to help guide the team and solve problems. If you are interested, get in touch with us directly.
