about this event
Come along to our Edinburgh Greentech Growth and Scale Programme Hackathon — an event focused on building solutions to greentech challenges.
No hacking, tech, or startup experience is required! All you need is curiosity, an open mind, and an interest in tackling some of the most immediate challenges facing Scotland's natural environment. Whether you're a student, founder, creative, environmental enthusiast, or simply keen to learn something new, you'll be right at home. Working independently or in small teams, you'll generate ideas, experiment with solutions, and actually start to build a rough-and-ready product or service that meets a need. Essentially, a crash course in greentech startup thinking and process!
Please note we'll be using AI tools during this session. Used with care, AI can take a startup further in a day than used to be possible in weeks, and that comes with a responsibility to point it at problems worth solving. We'll look at how as we go.
Expect a friendly, inclusive atmosphere with short talks on relevant tools and approaches, followed by plenty of time for experimenting and building. Facilitators and Greentech team members will be on hand throughout the day to help motivate, provide clarity and signpost towards resources - with opportunities to informally present your ideas at the end of the event. You'll leave with new insights, new connections, and a fresh perspective on how quickly a solution can be put together. Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. Lunch will be plant-based; please let us know of any other allergies through the signup form.
Please bring along a laptop to research and work from. If you don't have a laptop, please let us know through the signup form and we can provide one. You'll need your email address to sign up to the tools we'll use. We will provide any stationery, pens, paper, etc, required. If access to technology is an issue, please let a member of the team know and we'll do our best to support you.
You will be joined by members of the Greentech community, the wider tech community, and CodeBase staff members.
This session will take place in person at our Edinburgh Hub, 37a Castle Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2EL on Tuesday 27th October 2026 from 10am to 4pm. Please note that this is not a hybrid event, and all participants will need to be in CodeBase Edinburgh on the day of the event. This event is open to everyone who lives or has a business that resides in Edinburgh City and is interested in Greentech. We may cancel your ticket or ask you for more information if your responses in the signup form do not indicate that you meet these requirements. We look forward to seeing you there!
