about this event
Join LGBTQIA+ young people and allies for a creative hack exploring how we can make our communities safer and more inclusive. Let's make it #SaferToBeUs!
Calling young activists, changemakers, and allies across Newcastle passionate about carving out safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ young people! Join us for a creative hack exploring how we can build stronger, more inclusive communities where LGBTQIA+ young people feel safe, supported and free to be themselves. At a time when LGBTQIA+ rights, particularly trans rights, are facing increasing attacks, coming together, raising our voices and taking collective action has never been more important.
This is a space for young people up to age 25 to connect, share experiences, think creatively and turn ideas into action. Using zine-making and creative activism, we'll explore the challenges LGBTQIA+ young people face and co-create solutions that can make a real difference in our communities.
The hack will be led by passionate and supportive peers including #iwill Ambassadors and the founder of Queer Magazine, bringing inspiration and fresh perspectives to the conversation. Inspired by the upcoming #SaferToBeMe conference, we'll share our ideas to help shape one of the conference workshops and make sure young people's voices, experiences and solutions are heard.
Food will be provided to fuel your creativity!
When: Wednesday 21 October, 5–7pm. Where: Maybrook House, Grainger Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 5JE.
Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. Together, we can create change. Come as you are, bring your creativity, and help us build communities where everyone can feel safe, belong and thrive.
